Apparently Bob Stupak died. (H/T Dr. Pauly). The orignial Polish Maverick. If you want to know why this is a huge beat, read this. Although Stupak was supposedly never the same after he nearly died in an accident, he was still waaay larger than life.

Today's Detroit Free Press contains an article about a Detroit cop who shot and killed his wife and then committed suicide. The article contains an alarming graphic that says that Detroit police officers commit suicide at the rate of 28 per 100,000 police officers. OMFG!

As it turns out, Wikipedia says Detroit has about 3,500 police.

Which would be a suicide rate of ... just under 1 (0.98).

I guess the one was that guy yesterday, not sure what happened to the other 0.02. Maybe he gave up carbs for a week beforehand.

Statistics are stupid.

It's been a while.

FTP imaginary bonus clearing effort fizzled out a 55% cleared. I think I lost play chips in the process, so good riddance.

Stars' latest version of the WCOOP (world championship of online poker) is underway. They put on a freeroll last weekend for bloggers. I got the invite and signed up, but didn't get back from the golf course in time to play. Oh well. I still have a couple tickets floating around from the last blogger championship that I need to use.

Pokering will probably continue to be slow, as golf season continues and football season is underway. Maybe I'll play while watching, that could be fun.
