Shameless Consumerism

Greetings, blog readers. I has a question.

I'm looking to get noise canceling headphones. I know almost nothing about them, specifically what kind I should consider. I'm not a raving audiophile, won't be using them daily and have a preference for relatively cheap.

Anyone have any suggestions for what I should be looking at?

I know people who swear by the Bose QuietComfort 2 & 3. I have a pair of Sony DJ headphones that are the nuts.

Go bug Mean Gene. He bought a pair of noise-cancelling headphones (the same pair that CC bought, I believe) and he loves 'em.

Everyone is going to say get the Bose ones, and I can't say they're wrong. I've spent as much as I would have on the Bose trying out different models, and I only have one pair that even approaches their quality.

The ones that are almost as good and much cheaper are from Acoustic Research.

Just by the Bose and be done with it.
I owned a pair of the Sony's and it wasn't even close.

but then neither was the price.

I just grabbed the free ones off Full Tilt's point store since I can't hear much anyway.
